Manic Music Monday

FACT: Cold weather has been scientifically proven to make Mondays suck at a significantly higher degree. Some sources indicate that Monday can suck up to 30% more in weather that is 40 degrees or lower.

I’m sure that all of you have seen Beyonce’s video for “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” by now. Here’s a refresher, just as a reference:



I tried, but I can’t hate on it – not one bit. The choreography seemed familiar to me for some reason, though I couldn’t put my finger on it. At first I likened it to Tina Turner’s live performances of “Proud Mary”:



But then Bay-area vocalist Oona Garthwaite commented with this video in my MySpace blog in which I mentioned the perceived similarities, and suddenly the pieces of the puzzle all came together:



Who knew the legacy of Bob Fosse would find its way into a mainstream Pop R&B music video? Somehow, it works though. It’s like Fosse’s choreography was a natural fit for Beyonce. But that’s just me.
